Our Stay: Villa I Barronci-San Casciano in Val di Pesa, Tuscany
We didn’t really do much while in San Casciano… and that was exactly our plan. We came for two nights in between Siena and Padova and intended to get in as much relaxing as possible. With the picturesque hills of Tuscany as the backdrop to our retreat and nothing but great food, great wine and the best of company, we had everything necessary to wind down and recharge before taking on another city. I choose Villa I Barronci as our hotel after having read a number of excellent reviews which were all spot on. The grounds were beautiful, the staff was so sweet, the rooms were pleasant and the restaurant was unreal.
Although we were only there for two nights, the employees of Villa I Barronci were so wonderful and accommodating- and very good with the kids- that leaving them felt like saying goodbye to old friends. Like staff on a cruise ship or at a (really nice) camp, they seemed like a family and were quick to welcome us in. Not only was everyone so personable, but everyone we met who was working at Villa I Barronci excelled at their jobs.
Luxurious and peaceful without any kind of pretension, this resort is perfect for the honeymooning couple, retirees on the go, or families, like ours, traveling with kids… There’s even a playground! There are various-sized rooms as well as whole villas that can be rented out, depending on how much space you need. We had a two bedroom suite which we shared with my dad and it was plenty of space and privacy for everyone (and did I mention that Tuscan view)?!
As for the meals, we experienced breakfast, lunch and dinner on the property and all were exquisite. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, but if there’s still daylight and the weather permits, sitting outside overlooking the rolling hills of Toscana just can’t be beat. The chef uses the freshest of vegetables, cheeses and meats to bring to life a delicious menu that caters to mostly everyone. And if it doesn’t, just talk to your waiter- the kitchen will make you something that does!
